Members of One Another,
Partners In the Gospel, Brazil

In 2011 Northside voted to join in a unique partnership with a church in Brazil in the northeast city of Olinda. The partnership “yokes” us together in the gospel as “members of the same Church.”

Ordinary Time Banner – this banner was created at a Northside Women’s Retreat in January of 2010, “The Work of Our Hands.”  The color green is a color which suggests growth and life, and at this particular time of year, the simple, daily following of Jesus.

Ordinary Time

These current weeks are considered by some traditions as the beginning of Ordinary Time.  Ordinary Time is “ordinary” because it is not a season of preparation like Advent, Christmas, Lent, or Easter.   The word “ordinary” is actually related to “ordinal” and conveys numbers and counting, which is why the Sundays are described as the “Third Sunday after Epiphany,” or later in the summer, “The Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost.”
