This includes appropriate knowledge of hymnody and choral music, the ability to work with and inspire the adult choir and congregation in weekly singing, as well as a willingness to work within the liturgical calendar.

Anticipated start date is January 1. Duties will begin upon hiring. Salary will be commensurate with applicant’s experience.

Director of Music
1. Responsibilities include:
a. Responsible for leading, coordinating, enlisting, encouraging, promoting and educating all members of the congregation in matters of church music.
b. Will participate in the mission and congregational life of the church.
c. Will meet regularly with Senior and Associate Pastors in planning and leading weekly worship and other special worship planning sessions.
d. Plans and directs the Adult Choir in rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and Sunday services in the highest musical level possible.
e. Coordinates special music to be presented by musicians within and outside of the church.
f. Coordinates with the children’s music program director.
g. Supports the worship service with appropriate musical selections in cooperation with pianist, organist and pastors.
h. Assists with Order of Worship proofreading, as available.
i. Provides for appropriate substitutes for worship services or special services when needed.
j. Serves on Worship Committee
k. Maintains and upkeeps music library, as needed.
l. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of musical instruments owned by the church in cooperation with the pianist and organist.
a. Director of Music will be evaluated annually by the Senior Pastor. The Senior Pastor will report to the Personnel Committee.
b. The job description will be reviewed and updated annually.
c. Will evaluate the pianist and organist annually and report findings to Personnel Committee.
